The team from the Macclesfield (East Cheshire) office of care company, Home Instead, stepped out recently to take part in the Alzheimer’s Society annual Memory Walk.
The Home Instead team support the event each year and this was the walk’s 10th year. The team joined more than 60 walkers who took a route in and around Prestbury, before returning to the village hall for refreshments which was opened by East Cheshire Mayor, Roger West.
Commenting on the walk, Julie Akroyd from Home Instead which provides care to help older people remain in their own homes, said: “We work with people living with dementia and Alzheimer’s on a daily basis so we are more than aware of the issues this presents. We were delighted to support the charity’s Memory Walk, it’s a wonderful way to meet up with other people and to do something which is very worthwhile.
“The Memory Walk is now a firm fixture on our calendar and the funds we have raised will help the Alzheimer’s Society in their fight against dementia.”
