Being a CAREGiver
So what’s it like to be a CAREGiver at Home Instead Senior Care Leek ?
We asked Nicola & Heather 2 CAREGivers who are part of our fantastic team to give us there thoughts
1. How did you become a CAREGiver ?
Nicola – I became a CAREGiver after I had always done volunteer work and as the children have become older I wanted to do a job with the Community and carry on giving something back to the community I really enjoy being a CAREGiver, I love being with my clients or as I know them my friends, making their life’s happier and keeping them as its says, in their own home for longer.
Heather – I had an accident at home in the Garden injuring my back which took me out of my job for around 12 months, I was an accountant before the accident, my Mum had neuroparalysis on the right side of her body so I had been caring for my Mum and ended up losing both my Mum & Dad when I was young but after my accident and time to come back to work I thought about care work for the elderly and came across an advert for Home Instead Leek which I said that’s me that’s my job, I phoned the office and started my career as a CAREGiver.
2. What is it like working for the Leek office
Nicola - I love working for home instead it's one big family and everyone connected with the Leek office are very helpful and are always there to support not just me but all the CAREGivers.
Heather -Working for the Leek office is fantastic and as I have always worked with men and now I work in an environment mainly women I did not think I could get on but the staff in the office have made me so welcome and are always there when you need support communication is wonderful, we are one happy team, nothing is too much trouble they are fabulous.
3. What would you say to someone who is thinking of joining Home Instead as a CAREGiver ?
Nicola - Since I started working for Home Instead I have told all my family and friends how rewarding and satisfying it is working for the company and from that my sister has now applied for a job.
Heather - I would to anyone who is thinking of joining Home Instead Leek do not hesitate it is so rewarding you will love the people you work with and I wouldn’t work anywhere else.

My mum was without power when Paula arrived yesterday teatime. Thankfully Paula was able to orchestrate a response from the neighbours, ourselves, and was able to be on hand to speak with the Corgi Homeplan engineer as part of organising them to visit and address the cause of the problem.
So, in short I wanted to let you know how thankful we are to Paula for all her efforts; it’s very much appreciated. Could you pass on our thanks formally please as Paula deserves the recognition. Thanks …Ian.S Biddulph
