It’s been a busy few months at Home Instead. We have been busy researching activities and groups targeted to older adults. We were amazed to discover that there are almost 100 activities in our Giffnock, Clarkston and Newton Mearns communities which are suitable for seniors in our community and we have listed these in our What’s on Where (WOW) Guide for Older Adults.
There is something for everyone in the East Renfrewshire WOW Guide. For those who wish to socialise whilst enjoying a bite to eat we list a number of weekly coffee mornings, afternoon teas and subsidised lunch clubs which take place in local churches and community centres.
For the more sporty the WOW Guide lists gentle exercise classes and swimming, walking and dancing groups. There are arts and crafts groups, chess and bridge clubs, choirs, reading groups and book clubs in our libraries and a plethora of activities run by local day centres. For family carers we list a number of activities and cafes run by various groups.
All this information is presented in a handy Wall chart format which we will be distributing over the next few weeks in the local community. Also look out for copies in community centres, libraries and doctor’s surgeries. Alternatively if you would like a copy posted to you please call our office on the number below.
