Full steam ahead for our Digital Champions!

Digital learning is part of our commitment to preventing loneliness and isolation among older adults, not to mention helping them safely enjoy the wonders of the online world. But for many of our clients, technology is something they need support with.

Our partnership with Barclays Digital Eagles aims to give our care teams access to online training on all things digital. This knowledge will then be shared by our CAREGivers with their clients, clients’ families and the wider community.

Barclays Digital Eagles has made available a suite of online learning tools for the team at Home Instead. It can be easily accessed by our local office teams, providing tailored resources and training that can help their clients and families feel confident and safe using technology to stay in touch and enhance their day to day lives.

To date, 45 people - our ‘Digital Champions’ - have been trained to confidently assist clients with technology to help them stay connected with friends and family, enjoy entertainment, manage healthcare appointments, access online shopping and much more. We can’t wait to see how these Digital Champions will take their learnings further and help older adults in the wider community get to grips with technology.

Technology has been a godsend for many of us during the pandemic, particularly ageing adults who have been asked to shield at various points. We hope that older people reap the benefits of technology long into the future.
