We nominated one of our clients David as the “Local Hero” in our community to open Rushden Lakes.
David is a 67-year-old man who has lived in Rushden all his life. David was diagnosed with Dementia in 2012 and now receives some support from Home Instead Senior Care. David’s diagnosis hasn’t held him back and he still lives a very active social life, and LOVES to be part of the community. David has recently taken up the role of Fire Marshall for Barwick House, and even sings... in three different Choirs!
There is never a dull moment in David’s life, and he is involved in many local groups, open’s the church two mornings a week, and his most recent adventure is visiting Devon for a volunteer project.
David left the boys school at age 14 and has been within the service industry his whole working life. He travelled when serving in the RAF, and worked for the fire and ambulance service. David is a true gentleman who is always prepared to go that extra mile to support the local community. He is a very good Samaritan and has been part of ST John’s ambulance, and British red cross over for 30 years.
David just adores his community and would be truly honoured to be recognised as a hero.
