Being a CAREGiver
In 2015 I underwent emergency back surgery with ongoing long term issues this put an end to my 35 year career in catering. What now? I asked myself.
With no experience in anything else, I applied for so many vacancies only to be constantly rejected with "no experience' .
I then applied to Home Instead to be a CAREGiver, my BREAKTHROUGH. They were so kind and accommodating to my ongoing issues. I trained through the levels needed to have the knowledge needed to be a CAREGiver. Now - I am loving it!
Its so rewarding to be able to help vulnerable adults who through no fault of their own need help, support and companionship to cope with so much that we take for granted.
My Clients have become my extended family, I do whatever I can to make life as pleasant and easy for them as I possibly can.

As a full time mother returning to the work force and wanting a career change, I was looking for a job which not only fulfilled my personal criteria but also enabled me to work around my family life. Flexible working hours, job satisfaction, good rates of pay and great people to work for were a must! I am so happy to say that working for Home Instead ticks all those boxes and more!!
Once the initial training was completed I couldn’t wait to get started. The ongoing support and encouragement from the office staff and management gives you peace of mind when visiting clients as you know there is always someone at the other end of the phone, day or night!
Each visit fills me with contentment as I know I am making a difference to each of my client’s lives. A visit may consist of joining someone for a social cup of tea, taking a client to an appointment or going out for a nice drive in the country.
Being a CAREGiver for Home Instead is by far one of the most rewarding roles I have ever done!
Working for Home Instead is completely different from any other care agency. I love the fact that we are personally introduced to each client and shown exactly what to do before being sent out on our own.
We can pick and choose our clients and our working hours and if we ever have a problem or a question there is always somebody on the other end of the phone to help us. I hadn’t been with Home Instead long when I attended a staff meeting and was totally blown away by the positive atmosphere in the room. It was obvious from the start that all the Caregivers were very happy in their work and both staff and clients are truly valued by the Management Team.
Working for Home Instead is definitely a breath of fresh air.

From the initial assessment to the training of staff and to the actual care given, all aspects of care have been of the highest standard. I was able to trust the staff to be considerate, efficient and caring to my aunt at all times. She enjoyed their company and felt her needs were met, without any fear or lack of dignity.
