About Home Instead Eastbourne & Hailsham
Welcome to Home Instead Senior Care Eastbourne and Hailsham, the first privately owned home care provider in East Sussex to be rated as Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (full report can be read here).
Our names are Ian and Soraya Cottrell and we are a husband and wife team that own and run this office of Home Instead.
Home Instead Senior Care is a companionship based Home Care company, which specialises in non-medical services that help older people to remain living in their own homes where they are happiest and most comfortable. We cover the main towns of Eastbourne, Hailsham, Polegate and surrounding areas.
Our inspiration to open the Eastbourne office came whilst Ian was working for the NHS in London and volunteering for Age Concern part-time. As Ian explains; “I decided to give up a few hours of my spare time a week to provide companionship to often isolated older people in their own homes. During this time I saw first hand how many of the people that I visited were receiving 15 minute or 30-minute care visits. This was simply not enough time for the carer to understand the needs of the person that they were meant to be caring for, and also very upsetting for the older person who in many instances had no social interaction, apart from the visits from the carers and myself”.
When we were both looking to set up a business, the care sector seemed like a natural choice. Soraya has 19 years experience in Health and Social care having started her career working for her parents in their residential care home, she later worked for the NHS and Social Services as an activities coordinator and care assistant, before training to become a Nurse.
We researched many Domiciliary Care Companies, however when we came across Home Instead Senior Care we were immediately impressed with how their model of care fitted perfectly with how we both knew quality home care should be delivered.
Award Winning Care at Home
Home Instead is a National Home Care Company that recently won the Queens Award for Enterprise for its unique approach to Care at Home. All our visits are 1-hour minimum in length, which gives our CAREGivers the time to provide their clients with the highest quality service. Our care is bespoke and tailored to take in to account not just our client’s needs but also what they want and who they are. CAREGivers are matched to clients based on factors such as personality hobbies and interests and the consistency of the same CAREGivers is maintained to enable a relationship of trust to develop.
Whilst we were extremely honoured to be the first national Home Care Company to receive the Queens Award, our individual office was even more delighted to be recognised by Homecare.co.uk in 2016 as one of the top 10 Care Companies in the South of England. This award is based on real independent reviews from our clients and their families that can be viewed on the www.homecare.co.uk website. We were also very proud to see that our recent independently conducted confidential client survey revealed that 100% of our clients would recommend us to their family and friends.
We offer a whole range of services including specialist Alzheimer's and Dementia Care, so whether you or your family member requires significant levels of support, or just someone to help take them out once a week to the shops, we would be delighted to provide assistance. Please contact us on 01323 819191 and we will talk through the options available to you.
"Like so many people, I discovered the world of home care services at a time of crisis, after my 95-year-old grandma was discharged from hospital following a nasty fall.
After being disillusioned with many of the domiciliary care services I came across, a nurse who looked after my grandmother in hospital suggested that I contact these guys. As soon as I did, I knew I had found people that shared my belief that in order to look after someone properly, you really have to get to know that person and their family. I hope Home Instead continue to look after my grandma for years to come".
