The charity has four core areas:

Admiral Nurses - Admiral Nurses are specialist mental health nurses who work within the National Health Service and are supported by Dementia UK. Admiral Nurses provide practical and emotional support to family carers of people with dementia. There are currently two Admiral Nurses covering the Telford and Wrekin area.

Admiral Nursing DIRECT - Admiral Nursing DIRECT is a telephone and email helpline, provided by experienced Admiral Nurses. Call 0845 257 9406 or email direct@dementiauk.org

Dementia UK Training - Dementia UK Training specialises in the provision of high quality training courses for those who work with older people and people with dementia.

Uniting Carers - Uniting Carers is a national network of carers, former carers, family and friends of people affected by dementia.

As well as these four core areas, Dementia UK works in partnership with a host of organisations and networks and has set up regional centres to ensure that people everywhere can have access to the support that they need.

National Osteoporosis Society

www.nos.org.uk

Osteoporosis literally means porous bones and is often referred to as the fragile bone disease.

People are often unaware that they have fragile bones until the time of a first fracture. Broken wrists, hips and spinal bones are the most common fractures in people with osteoporosis and it is more widespread in older age although younger people can sometimes be affected.

One in two women and one in five men over the age of 50 in the UK will fracture a bone, mainly as a result of osteoporosis. The cause of the disease is still not fully understood, but research continues to build up a picture of the factors that influence our bone health.

Home Instead Telford can support people living with Osteoporosis, whether that be for individuals returning home from hospital, following a fracture, when help with rehabilitation is required on a short term basis, or for longer periods of time. We also have links with the local group who organize group activities and talks for those in the Telford and Wrekin area.
