95-year-old war veteran Len from Dartford was delighted to receive a letter from Windsor Castle, which said that the Queen passes on her best wishes as he struggles with his health. Len, who was born in 1926 – the same year as the Queen, has lived in the local area for his whole life. He served in the Armed Forces, and thus has lots of stories to tell about his travels and adventures.

Not All Heroes Wear Capes- Jane's Blog

Hi guys, I have, have you? Watched the first episode of Inside the Care Crisis with Ed Balls, that is. It’s amazing. The second episode, which concentrates on what us at Home Instead Dartford excel in (no false modesty here), domiciliary care, is on tonight on BBC2 at 9pm. The first episode concentrated on care homes, and was an eye-opener for me, as I have only ever worked in peoples’ own homes in the community.

Jane's CAREGiver Diary: Will Hay & Arthur Lucan

I was born in 1972, so when I was growing up, until I was about 11, when Video Cassette Recorders became more popular (and more affordable), if you were watching the telly, you had a choice of whatever was showing at the time on the three (later four, when Channel 4 started in 1982) channels available. I very often, because of this found myself watching old films, mainly on BBC2. I discovered all the amazing Hollywood musicals, and the stars of them like Judy Garland, Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire and so many others, and I am so grateful for that.

Jane’s Blog -I’m Henry VIII, I am!

On 28th June 1491, Elizabeth of York, the Queen of King Henry VII, first Tudor monarch, gave birth to her third child, and second son – Henry Tudor. Henry would become the second Tudor king, and arguably, England’s most famous monarch. As today is his 530th birthday, I thought I would write a little about him today, along with local(ish) places with links to him that you might like to visit.
