Home Instead Senior Care, has recently partnered with the National Trading Standards’ Scams Team to provide their caregivers with training to combat mass market scams, and allow them to report suspected fraud directly to the NTS Scams Team.
Last week, Andy Burrows from Cheshire East Trading Standards, came to the Home Instead office in Crewe to deliver a talk to 30 local caregivers about fraud and scams. He provided tips and advice to help caregivers protect their clients from falling victim to this abuse.
Dawn Sime, owner of Home Instead Senior Care in Crewe, explained, “We were delighted that Andy was available to come speak to our caregivers about scam awareness. Our caregivers are on the front line when it comes to protecting the elderly from mass market scams, and they found his talk very useful.
“Scams can have very serious consequences for the elderly who can suffer devastating emotional distress and lose their confidence and trust, which can lead to a loss of independence. The sad thing is that much of this could be avoided with better awareness and education.
“Our partnership with the National Trading Standards sends out a clear message that we are committed to fighting fraud in the community.”
