We were very pleased to be asked by the Local Safeguarding Adults Board to help celebrate the MCA's 10th Birthday.

Huge thanks to all partners that submitted photos for our 10 year celebration of the Mental Capacity Act.

The MCA was launched 10 years ago. The MCA is one of the most person centred and human rights focussed pieces of legislation that we have. However, it is only as good as the Professionals that apply it. So this 10th Birthday is our chance to fully celebrate all the act brings to practice including greater personal control, human rights and even the opportunity to make decisions that may seem unwise to many, but are not necessarily evidence of someone lacking the capacity to make decisions. It is an opportunity to challenge ourselves and other professionals about its application in order to get it right the  first time. We know that  when it is applied appropriately, the Mental Capacity Act ( MCA ) enhances lives, changes lives and can even save lives!
