The team from Home Instead Senior Care in Crewe dressed in their finest bedwear and of course red noses, as part of a number of ‘funny for money’ events that the office organised on Friday to support Comic Relief 2013. They managed to raise over £450.
Staff paid to enter the company’s first ever British Bake Off, with recipes ranging from timeless Delia classics to those that Heston Blumenthal himself would be proud of. The competition, which was judged by Home Instead clients Mary, Mona & Peggy, was extremely close but saw caregiver Jenny Stevenson take home the coveted title of best baker for her chocolate red nose cake. Even more importantly all cakes entered in the competition were raffled off.
Male staff got involved by bravely accepting the waxing challenge, gaining a significant amount of sponsorship for getting their backs and legs waxed and the guess was on for the number of jelly beans in a jar.
Home Instead, who provide a range of at-home care services to elderly people in their own homes in Crewe and surrounding areas, were keen to support a charity which provides help and support to older people across the UK.
Owner of Home Instead Dawn Sime continued, “Comic Relief is a charity which helps so many vulnerable people across the UK and as such it is a charity which is very close to our hearts. It was great to see everyone joining in by doing something funny on a Friday and I’m really proud that we managed to raise such a significant amount for Comic Relief. Our clients were delighted to be involved and loved judging the caregivers’ cakes.”
