Home Instead Senior Care has gotten into the knitting spirit, making twiddle muffs and fiddle cushions for people living with dementia.
The handmade crafts are made by local Home Instead caregiver Lesley Crowe from Crewe. Twiddle muffs are knitted hand muffs with interesting bits and bobs attached. Many people with Alzheimer’s, arthritis and dementia find them comforting and therapeutic as they help encourage movement and brain stimulation.
Home Instead recently attended a charity event where they sold twiddle muffs in order to raise funds for local community groups that support people with dementia.
Dawn Sime, owner of Home Instead Senior Care Crewe commented. She said, “We are delighted that Lesley is putting her knitting to skills to good use, selling her gorgeous twiddle muffs in order to help support people with dementia.
“This week, we donated some of the funds raised to the Dementia Team at Leighton Hospital. They were extremely grateful for the support and we are pleased to be giving back to the community.”
