The Crawley & East Grinstead Team

Rajive de Chickera - Director

Hello! I co-own Home Instead Senior Care Crawley together with my wife Jenny. Care has been a big part of my life since my early teens, when I began to spend a lot of time caring for my elderly grandparents. I understand the stresses and strains families go through when looking to provide care for a family member, as I have gone through that same process several times myself.

One of my key roles here is to ensure that my team and I meet the high standards we set ourselves at Home Instead and deliver the best quality care to the community we serve. It is actually a very easy job to do as I am privileged to work with a great team who are both compassionate and truly caring about the wellbeing of our clients. I believe it is essential we listen to our clients and truly understand what they need, so we can devise the right care plan, tailor made to suit their wishes.

I come from a service background where standards of quality mean the difference between success and failure. I bring with me the same passion and commitment for consistently improving our service and providing high quality care to my local community.

Maria Wedd- Care Manager

Hi,

I have worked in the care industry for many years; first as a care giver, progressing into supervisory level positions and coordinator roles.

I love the care industry - it gives me a real buzz and a warm feeling knowing that I've helped make someone's day a little bit brighter. I have worked for many care companies and can very easily say Home Instead Senior care is very different to other domiciliary care companies. Working for them has shown me how proper home care can truly make a vast difference to other’s lives. I see the difference Home Instead makes for our clients, their families and our wonderful CAREGivers.

I am currently due to graduate from my LLB Honours Law Degree that I am studying towards in my spare time with the Open University. When I’m not studying or working at Home Instead I enjoy going out for dinner and spending time with my family. If I’m being totally honest I’m also a bit of an adrenaline junky and love quad biking.

Shirley

A gem of a CAREGiver! You dont get much better CAREGiver's than Shirls.

She's been an office assistant, a gamekeeper and helped run the family carpet cleaning business prior to becoming a CAREGiver. Her second favourite job is to be a nurse and we have no doubt she'd be brilliant at that too.

According to her, she cose to be a CAREGiver because she is a caring person who enjoys the company of others and felt she wanted to be able to learn as well as feel fulfilled in a role she enjoys playing.

She lists her hobbies down as watching motor race meetings, listening to music photography and reading; although the thing she enjoys most is gardenning.

Her guilty pleasure is tea and Bickies!

Kat

I became a CAREGiver because caring for people comes natural to me.

Making a difference in their lives and helping others gives me great satisfaction and fulfilment.

I like helping others improve their lives, socialising with friends and family and also solving puzzles.

My favourite film is 'Phantom of the opera' for a great story and music that stirs up emotions.

Abbie-Leigh

Abs is one of our newer CAREGivers who has pleasantly surprised everyone who meets her. What she lacks in experience she more than makes up for in enthusiasm and an incredible desire to imrpove her skills and knowledge. - She is brilliant!

Abs read the job description of a CAREGiver and felt that the role suited her and says now that she is one, she can't imagine herself doing anything else. She wants her spare time she has while her son is at school to benefit people who need her time the most.

She is a very outdoorsy person and loves taking her son  to new places and vist friends. She loves a good movie too.

Her guilty pleasure is (everyone's favourite) Chocolate!!!

The thing she enjoys most is to just be with her son. (awwww)

Joanne

Jo would have been waitress or a nun had she not become a CAREGiver.

She loves reading and spending time with her kids. Her guilty pleasure is reality TV!!

Jo wanted a rewarding yet flexible career which fitted around her family needs. And because she enjoyed the sense of wellbeing you can only get by giving of yourself to someone who needs help, she joined Home Instead as a wonderful CAREGiver.

Sandra E

Sandra is marvelous!!

She reckons she would have been a hairdresser if she didnt enjoy being a CAREGiver so much.

She loves to socialise with friends and spend time with the grand kids but the thing that she enjoys the most is seeing the smiles on her clients faces after caring for them in their homes. (Bless you Sandra)

She became a CAREGiver because she just enjoys it so much!

Nikki K

Nikki is just great!

She used to run her own building firm prior to becoming a CAREGiver and reckons the only thing keeping her away from running her own company is because she enjoys her job too much.

She always wanted to be a CAREGiver and feels now was the right time as her kids are in school and she has a bit more time to give. She has a massive heart and loves to be there for people who need her support.

She is aiming to do her NVQ2 this year and further her career in the care sector.

Her guilty pleasure - Patrick Swayze (Gush)

Beverley W

Bev owns the Tshirt I love to care!

She is relatively new to our team, and has already shown glimpses of being a great CAREGiver. What she lacks in experience she more than makes up in passion and enthusiasm. She is a ridiculously quick learner.

She used to be a teaching assistant and feels that had she not become a CAREGiver she would have been working in a shop somewhere in Crawley. She enjoys giving people their sense of independence and dignity whilst caring for them and feels that Home Instead does this really well.

She enjoys taking her dog for long walks and looking after her grand child.

 Her guilty pleasure - Chocolate!!

Alison

I love being around people and helping them - I have the time to give back!

My hobbies are helping the kids, dog walking, live music, travel

My favourite singer is Rod Stewart makes me smile ALWAYS

I would have been an HR Professional if I hadn’t become a CAREGiver

Louise

I became a CAREGiver because I have a caring nature and find looking after people very rewarding.

My hobbies include reading, spending quality time with my daughters, Interior design, D.I.Y,  Shopping and Beauty therapy

If I had not become a Care giver, I would have become a Beauty Therapist as I enjoy doing nails and makeup on my friends and family.

I enjoy reading autobiographies. My favourite movie is Bridget Jones’s diary; Favourite song - I have lots of favourite songs.

Tina

I've witnessed bad care and the affect it has on families, I feel by being a CAREGiver and doing the best I can, it means there is one less bad person doing the job.

My hobbies are listening & playing music, playing bass, baking and I love visiting garden centres.

I like to read an assortment of biographies, but also love the Harry Potter books & Movies. I also like crime, action and comedy movies.  I love rock and metal, especially Nu metal, & I like a lot of old rock too, from The Beatles to Johnny Cash, Buddy Holly, Status Quo etc.

To be honest, apart from my 15 year old self coming out and saying a Bass player in a rock/metal band, there isn't anything else I would want to do. I'd probably still be working in retail, but not through choice.

Bev

I became a CAREGiver because I love looking after people.

My hobbies include reading, watching films and walking my dog.

My favourite films include The Green Mile anything produced by Steven king, Dirty Dancing and Grease.

I wanted to be a nurse but as I hate needles I decided it was a better idea to become a CAREGiver, which is a job I absolutely love.

Becky P

Becky is used to work as a restaurant manager prior to joining Home Instead. She studied to be a psychologist and reckons she would have been a councellor if she didnt love being a CAREGiver as much as she did.

She is very friendly and loves getting to know new people and learning about their lives and past. She lists reading and watching movies as her hobbies.

Becky truly cares for her clients. She is truly an exceptional CAREGiver
