We asked Adrian what he loves about his job and what he’d tell others considering part time care work with Home Instead.
Q: What made you want to work in care in the first place?
Adrian: I wanted a career change. I’d previously worked as a driving instructor and didn’t want to go back to working in an office environment. I decided to work in care as I love working with people. I’ve always had a passion for supporting others and making a difference to their day to day lives.
Q: What made you want to join Home Instead?
Adrian: I was first attracted to Home Instead after reading their website and loving their ethos. I love that Home Instead are an extremely professional well run care provider offering continuity of care to all clients; every client receives a minimum of one hour of care on any day we visit, so the clients don’t feel rushed. When I started with Home Instead they were a new company and I thought it would be a great opportunity to grow with them.
Q: What would you advise others to consider if they are considering working with Home Instead?
Adrian: Working in care, it’s inevitable there will be a time you must say goodbye to your clients and after working so closely and forming a special bond and relationship, this is something that can be hard to deal with. But the professional support I receive with the company is fantastic.
Q: What do you hope to achieve in your work with us and your clients in the future?
Adrian: My aim is to continue supporting my clients to the best of my ability. One of the things about caring for people is that you never stop learning, so continuing learning within my role and developing personally is very important to me. As I do have quite a bit of experience now, I’m also considering potentially take on more senior duties with the company. But at the end of the day, it’s caring for my clients that gives me the most satisfaction.
