This Autumn, Home Instead Senior Care staff enjoyed fresh air, exercise and some lovely time together in the beautiful surroundings of Highnam Court whilst completing the local Memory Walk- all in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.
There are 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK and with numbers set to rise to more than one million by 2025, events such as the Memory Walk help the Alzheimer’s Society to raise vital funds needed to support people living with dementia.
As well as providing lots of useful information, the Alzheimer’s Society provides excellent support to people with dementia in Gloucestershire through its team of Advice Workers in addition to the Memory Cafes, Art Group, Good2Go and Singing for the Brain sessions which are held in various parts of the county. Further details can be obtained by telephoning 01452 525222 or visiting the Alzheimer’s Society website: www.alzheimers.org.uk.
Home Instead provides specialist dementia care for those who wish to remain independent at home. CAREGivers receive Home Instead’s own City and Guilds accredited dementia training and have a real passion for supporting both those with dementia and their families.
In total the Home Instead team raised £300, with contributions also coming from CAREGivers who were unable to take part in the walk as they were providing care and support to elderly clients.
CAREgivers and office support staff were accompanied by family members and everyone joined in the fun by choosing a fabulous wig to wear en route!
