Dr Michel Sun Wai - Director
Some people find it unusual in that I have a female sounding French name, when I am of Chinese origins. What is not unusual, however is the kind of care I want to provide to elderly people and anyone else who needs help and care.
I am a practicing Anaesthetist and an Intensive Care Consultant. Looking and caring after the frail and the elderly is just an extension of what I do normally for my patients while they are in surgery or when they are on the Intensive Care Unit. I chose Home Instead Senior Care not only to help me start up my own business, but also because it matched my vision of how care to the elderly should be delivered. My aim is to provide support and peace of mind to the family of the loved one we are caring for, by helping that person retain their independence and dignity and enabling them to stay in their own homes for as long as possible. My CAREGivers through empathy, care and training will behave as if a family member is looking after their own loved ones.
On a personal level, I keep fit by practising Ju-jitsu and through much sweat and effort, I am a black belt, 4th dan. My wife, Jo, is another Anaesthetist and of course there is a lot of medicine being spoken at the dinner table! We have 3 daughters and a son, 2 cats and look after 2 aquariums!
I am a stickler for details and want to provide the best care around by getting the best staff possible around me.
Michelle Gilbert - Registered Care Manager
I joined the Home Instead Chelmsford team in April 2016 and I am very much looking forward to a long and exciting working relationship.
I have been in social care since 2000, two of these years were as a care worker and co-ordinator and then the remaining as a registered manager. For me, social care is all about quality support for our ever aging population and Home Instead does exactly that.
I take pride in my ability, to develop a positive working relationships with colleagues, peers and other professionals, I am highly motivated and enthusiastic, with a can do attitude. I am a very positive, down to earth person.
I have three handsome grown up sons and three gorgeous grand children - not that I’m biased!
In my spare time I love to spend time with the family. I am also fascinated in genealogy, and have traced my family history back several generations. I enjoy listening to a variety of music, jazz, modern, classical and I love to travel.
Jo Hill - Assistant Care Manager
After nearly 20 years of working for Banks and Financial Institutions I decided to pursue an alternative career path.
I knew that the Care Sector was the area that interested me as I had been caring for my elderly Grandmother who is 92.
I joined Home Instead in September 2015, as a Community Liaison Manager, after becoming aware of the difficulties faced when trying to find excellent quality care for the elderly community.
Since I started here, I have worked hard to achieve the role as Assistant Care Manager, this enables me to meet my clients and their families, and knowing that we are making a difference to their lives with the service we provide.
Becky Cooper - Senior CAREGiver
I joined Home Instead Senior Care in June 2015 and I absolutely love what I do. I was attracted to the ethos of Home Instead Senior Care as they’re similar to my own, and I really like that the visits are a minimum of 1 hour.
As a Senior CAREGiver, I provide a mentoring role for our CAREGivers and support our clients and their families on an ongoing basis. However, I still enjoy being hands on with care and getting out to meeting clients wherever possible.
I have completed the Home Instead Senior Care City & Guilds accredited Dementia training care course in order to support our clients with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. I am really passionate about helping people to stay in their own home, in familiar surroundings for as long as possible.
Things that make my heart happy are my family, my friends, woodland walks and chocolate cake.
Sue Last - Senior CAREGiver
I have worked for Home Instead for 10 weeks so far and some of my duties include: Carrying out Care Consultations, QA, Service Reviews, Introducing new CAREGivers to clients, direct observations with CAREGivers, spot checks, risk assessments and Care Plans.
I previously worked as a Restaurant Manageress for 20 years, then in 2003 I started work in the Care sector. I worked for Essex County Council and for Essex Cares until August 2016. Here I was a Care Co-Ordinator / Support Lead and my duties included doing First Visits, Risk Assessments, Supervisions, Review of Services, Direct Observations, Chairing Meetings, Training, Supporting with Medication training, Trainer / Demonstration of Aids that support clients with personal care / dressing, preparing food and drink to help maintain their independence and remain in their own homes.
I have also worked in Broomfield Hospital alongside Social Workers and part of my duties included going to wards to meet potential clients and assess them with suitability to come home with an reablement package.
Sandra Tuson - Senior CAREGiver
I joined Home Instead Chelmsford in November 2016 after retiring from full time employment as an NVQ/Diploma Assessor for Health & Social Care and have worked in Social Care for 23 years.
I teached in Norwich City College for a few years, then went on to do Freelance Assessing in Norfolk, Hertfordshire, London, Lincolnshire and Essex.
After reading about Home Instead on their webpage, i was very impressed and joined the company as a CAREGiver. I thoroughly enjoy meeting new clients and building a rapport with them, with the knowledge they are supported and have companionship.
I became a Senior CAREGiver in January 2018. I am passionate about supporting clients, carers and their family. Allowing carers to have a well needed break from caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's/Dementia with the knowledge that all CAREGivers are trained and very supportive to the family member needing support.
My family life surrounds my two grown up daughters, their husbands and a very lively Grandaughter.....
In my spare time I enjoy jewellery making, vintage 40's music & clothes and attending 40's weekends dressed as a Landgirl! Music and reasding
Jade Lilley - Senior CAREgiver
I became a Senior CAREgiver at the start of 2018 but I have been with Home Instead Chelmsford since September 2016.
I previously worked in a care home but joined Home Instead because i love their passion towards care and I wanted to make a difference to peoples lives.
I am proud to be the first Home Instead Chelmsford CAREgiver to complete my Care Certificate, City & Guilds in Dementia & Alzheimers, Dementia Friends and Virtual Dementia Tour all within my first year of joining.
In my spare time I enjoy socialising with family and friends, knitting, crocheting and spending quality time with my partner and our Husky Fynn.
Anne Hood - Scheduling Co-ordinator
I am the Scheduling Co-ordinator, after having the opportunity to change my role at Home Instead Senior Care Chelmsford.
I joined Home Instead in August 2016 as a Clerical Administrator providing clerical and administration support across all departments. I carried out a range of duties which involved telephone communication, contact with the public and internal colleagues. I also provided support with organisational procedures and systems.
I previously worked within the NHS as a Screening Assistant for the Cancer Screening Programme for 6 years. I value client happiness and will endeavour to do all I can to help.
In my spare time I enjoy walking my dogs, spending time with my family and socialising with close friends
