Home Instead Charnwood's Expanding Team!
This week several more Care Givers joined our team to support the elderly in and around Charnwood and Leicester. Sally-Anne as pictured right previously worked at Home Instead in London and was keen to continue with the brand since she very much believes in the ethos of the premium bespoke service, relationships are key and forged through hour long visits and the importance of matching the right client and Care Giver. This enables Home Instead to be the leading home care provider when supporting people suffering with Dementia and Alzheimer's.
Sally completed her three day induction with the Charnwood office and excelled - she also appreciated and enjoyed meeting several other new Care Givers who also completed the induction, Susan, Tracey and Graham - welcome to the team guys! Sally is available to start supporting clients in the Syston area and is a very experienced Care GIver.
We would also like to thank Sally for the huge selection of fruit she bought into the office as thanks to us for her week - really we are very grateful to her - she is going to be another strong asset to our already strong and growing team.
The Johnson James Team
Hello – we are Charlotte Johnson and Hayley James and the co-owners and management team of Home Instead Senior Care Charnwood. We have worked together for over 14 years in our lives to date and decided to embark on a new venture together since it was something we both felt passionate about. Whilst we have independently been very successful in the corporate world we felt it was time to put these complementary skill sets to good use in order to help change the face of aging and start to support the growing number of seniors in our community.
Following 14 years of working in the manufacturing, design and retail industry I decided to research areas where I could apply my skill set in order to really make a difference to people’s lives.
The care sector, following several years of research – is an area I feel drawn to. I want to ensure we are treating the elderly with the respect and time they deserve. Having learnt the current care model we operate in the UK is in dire need of support and better direction I hope that by providing Home Instead care to our local Charnwood and Loughborough community I can go some way towards supporting the larger concern.
Having always lived in Leicestershire much of my career has focused on retail, supply chain management. After fourteen years I decided it was time to pursue a more fulfilling and rewarding career.
Home Instead was an easy choice as the brand values and ethos resonant on a very personal level. My father suffered a massive stroke a number of years ago and my grandparents have lived with varying degrees of dementia. The need to tailor quality, person led support and companionship services to individuals’ needs and for people to have the opportunity to be able to live as independently as possible within their own home can be a real struggle. This is something my family experienced first hand and I truly appreciate the bewildering challenge families are faced with. With this in mind I am totally committed to building a service that makes a real difference by going the ‘extra mile’ and providing the care and support I would require for my loved ones.
Lisa Cunningham - Registered Care Manager
I have always had a passion for helping others and wanted to work within the care sector, but was unsure in what capacity. I began working as a CAREGiver part time and instantly knew it was what I wanted to do. This later developed to me completing a degree in community health and a BA honours in Health studies. I have held different roles within the Adult Social Care sector starting as a CAREGiver, progressing to a senior CAREGiver, a scheduler then finally as a registered manager. I have been a registered manager for three years and up until recently worked mainly with the local authority.
Charlotte Bailey - Office Manager
Hi - I have known Charlotte Johnson and Hayley since 2010 and worked along side them for many of those years in the Retail and Supply Management industry.
When Charlotte and Hayley took ownership of Home Instead Senior Care Charnwood, I knew this was a path I would also be keen to join. I share the same ethos and values around helping the elderly and supporting them to stay in their own home, whilst getting the most out of life for a long as possible.
My role, as Office Manager, is exciting and challenging and reflects well my background in HR and Account Management - both roles which require lots of juggling! I look after all operations within the office - I'm sure it will be me who you first speak to and I support all facets of the business to ensure our clients and CAREGivers are given the best possible service and support.

Our clients trust us. They will rely on you to listen carefully to what they need, take an interest in them and deliver excellent care. If you enjoy interacting with older individuals and want to pursue an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of older people, caregiving might be the career for you.
The central and most important part of a CAREGiving role with Home Instead is offering companionship and conversation. Each of our CAREGivers is matched to a client based on mutual interests and hobbies to encourage a strong relationship to develop.
We believe you need this understanding and bond to be able to care for someone as if they were a member of your own family. Indeed, many of our CAREGivers do not have formal experience of working as a carer before they join our team, but have looked after a family member and want to make a difference to an older person’s life by using the experience they have gained.
Our service is companionship led and so a considerable responsibility of a CAREGiver is to stimulate and encourage the client through a range of different activities that sustain or improve their quality of life. A CAREGiver’s responsibilities can also include accompanying clients to appointments and social events, light housekeeping, planning and preparing meals and helping with daily living routines.
We are looking for friendly, kind, compassionate people who like to spend time with older people and build a friendly but professional relationship. Therefore we don’t believe in onerous application forms, we prefer to meet face to face for a chat to make sure you match our values and most importantly for you to see what Home Instead is all about. Don’t worry if you don’t have sector experience, we have extensive training and on-going development opportunities that will enable to you deliver our special brand of relationship-led care.
