The Charnwood, Loughborough and Coalville Team
Lauren Tavener - Client Care Coordinator
Following more than five years within the care industry working with adults with learning disabilities, challenging behaviour and mental health illnesses I have gained experience across a wide range of care sectors. This has broadened my understanding of delivering quality care in a range of environments and I am very excited to be applying my skills as a Care Co-ordinator within the Home Instead family.
After working first hand as a support worker I have considerable knowledge of client needs and expectations that Home Instead are to deliver in the pursuit of quality care within the community. This will ensure clients are well cared for during their time spent with Home Instead.
The main area of my daily focus is to ensure the needs of clients and their families are met whilst delivering unique care within the community and ensuring client centred care. My priority is that clients maintain the utmost independence, respect and dignity whilst enjoying first class care and companionship within their own homes.
Our Growing CAREGiver Team
We love our CareGivers - they are brilliant! Each and every one of them have completed our in house bespoke training - go over and above in everything they do - two of them have even got to the final in the Leicester Mercury 2018 Care Awards! Give us a call if you want to have a rewarding, well paid and role where you are appreciated for what you do every single day!
Following 14 years of working in the manufacturing, design and retail industry I decided to research areas where I could apply my skill set in order to really make a difference to people’s lives.
The care sector, following several years of research – is an area I feel drawn to. I want to ensure we are treating the elderly with the respect and time they deserve. Having learnt the current care model we operate in the UK is in dire need of support and better direction I hope that by providing Home Instead care to our local Charnwood and Loughborough community I can go some way towards supporting the larger concern.
Lucy Perkins - Front of House Coordinator
My name is Lucy Perkins and I have recently joined the team at Home Instead Charnwood as the Front of House Coordinator. Whilst I started my career as a Nursery Nurse, quickly moving into management, I then went on to become a CareGiver in the community and later in a private care home. Following my interest in the care sector I decided to study Health and Social Care and achieved level 2 and level 3 diplomas. Following my diploma I went to Leicester De Montfort University and studied transition to nursing. I am very excited to be joining a team at Home Instead Charnwood, they clearly have the same passion as I do when supporting the elderly to stay in their own homes. It will most likely be me you speak to when you call the office and I look forward to speaking and meeting with you soon.
Katie Smith - CAREGiver Experience Coordinator
My name is Katie Smith and I have recently joined the Home Instead Charnwood Office team as Field Supervisor. I've been a Caregiver with Home Instead Charnwood since October 2017 before moving to this new role, still maintaining CareGiving. I trained originally in theatre and my career began working in front of house and box office in a large theatre in North Yorkshire. I went on to working in the hotel industry before moving back to Leicestershire and concentrating on raising my family. During this time I took on some voluntary work and training helping young families and working in a local museum. My heart was always set on working in the Care industry, after a few life changing events I decided to venture for this career. I found Home Instead Charnwood and instantly felt I had made the best decision I could have made and a company I can begin a career with. I adore all my clients, they are family to me, I learn so much daily myself, and I'm always inspired. I’m delighted to have been nominated by my company and to then make the finals of the Leicester Mercury care worker of the year. I very much believe in the Home Instead ethos and the support of both the Clients and the Caregivers is paramount to me.
Rhea Willett - Scheduling Coordinator
I have recently joined the Home Instead Charnwood Team as a Scheduling Coordinator.
I had my first taste in care when I was 16 years old for my late aunt and knew instantly that this was something that I wanted to do, so I followed my heart and for many years now I have worked in different settings from young adults with learning disabilities and mental health to the elderly with dementia care and then into end of life and palliative care .
I took time out and went to college and studied beauty therapy and went onto vehicle management as I nursed my late nan through dementia.
My heart has always been for helping others and a passion to make a difference and maintain as much independence to one’s life as possible.
I’m very excited for my future with Home Instead Charnwood and I look forward to what this journey will bring.
If you have any scheduling questions please send them my way:
Home Instead Charnwood's Expanding Team!
This week several more Care Givers joined our team to support the elderly in and around Charnwood and Leicester. Sally-Anne as pictured right previously worked at Home Instead in London and was keen to continue with the brand since she very much believes in the ethos of the premium bespoke service, relationships are key and forged through hour long visits and the importance of matching the right client and Care Giver. This enables Home Instead to be the leading home care provider when supporting people suffering with Dementia and Alzheimer's.
Sally completed her three day induction with the Charnwood office and excelled - she also appreciated and enjoyed meeting several other new Care Givers who also completed the induction, Susan, Tracey and Graham - welcome to the team guys! Sally is available to start supporting clients in the Syston area and is a very experienced Care GIver.
We would also like to thank Sally for the huge selection of fruit she bought into the office as thanks to us for her week - really we are very grateful to her - she is going to be another strong asset to our already strong and growing team.
We’re looking for more people with the personality and passion to build great relationships with our clients
Our clients trust us. They will rely on you to listen carefully to what they need, take an interest in them and deliver excellent care. If you enjoy interacting with older individuals and want to pursue an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of older people, caregiving might be the career for you.
The central and most important part of a CAREGiving role with Home Instead is offering companionship and conversation. Each of our CAREGivers is matched to a client based on mutual interests and hobbies to encourage a strong relationship to develop.
We believe you need this understanding and bond to be able to care for someone as if they were a member of your own family. Indeed, many of our CAREGivers do not have formal experience of working as a carer before they join our team, but have looked after a family member and want to make a difference to an older person’s life by using the experience they have gained.
Our service is companionship led and so a considerable responsibility of a CAREGiver is to stimulate and encourage the client through a range of different activities that sustain or improve their quality of life. A CAREGiver’s responsibilities can also include accompanying clients to appointments and social events, light housekeeping, planning and preparing meals and helping with daily living routines.
We are looking for friendly, kind, compassionate people who like to spend time with older people and build a friendly but professional relationship. Therefore we don’t believe in onerous application forms, we prefer to meet face to face for a chat to make sure you match our values and most importantly for you to see what Home Instead is all about. Don’t worry if you don’t have sector experience, we have extensive training and on-going development opportunities that will enable to you deliver our special brand of relationship-led care.
A fantastic company to work for or to have care provided for. CAREGivers are well supported and looked after, the clients receive whatever help they need and companionship from people who really care and love their job. The exact care I would want for my loved ones.KT W
