About Home Instead Central Hampshire
Welcome to Home Instead Central Hampshire – a family run business originally set up by Jan and Steve Gapper and now joined in 2017 by their son Jon.
The task in finding home care can be daunting and we at Home Instead Senior Care Central Hampshire are here to help. Whether it is personal care, companionship or home help, our care services are personalised and tailored to meet each individual’s unique needs.
Our care is a non-medical service of exceptional quality which assists older people in the community in which we live. We believe the care our team provides has a positive impact, not only on the people we provide care for, but also on their families giving them peace of mind and this is very important to us.
What sets us apart from most other care providers is that we spend a minimum of an hour with each client on every visit; we agree a time for our visit and turn up at that time. We match the CAREGiver to the client and then undertake a personal introduction. Because the same small group of CAREGivers visit the client on a regular basis they are able to get to know each other really well which from feedback we know is really important.
This is crucially important for those suffering with dementia, where consistent routine and involvement with the client is vital to achieving the best possible care. At Home Instead Central Hampshire, we are committed to providing the highest standards of care, ensuring our CAREGivers respect the privacy and dignity of all those they support. Since 2013 we have been running a City & Guilds Alzheimer’s training course for our CAREGivers as well as offering free Dementia Training Workshops for the public. We believe that by doing so we can help people caring for family or friends with dementia.
The areas we cover are Winchester, Alresford, Bassett, North Baddesley, Chandlers Ford and Eastleigh and run the office ourselves on a day to day basis with Jan acting as Director of Care, Steve as Finance Director and Jon as General Manager.
Jan is a qualified Occupational Therapist and has worked with older people both in the NHS and in a local care home. She has seen first-hand how flexible and responsive quality care can positively impact on a person’s well-being and we pride ourselves in being able to provide this type of care to all our clients.
Our aim is to deliver home care services that we would be happy for a member of our family to receive. We do this by training our team on a continual basis to ensure we deliver the highest standard and quality of care and so that our service is the best it can be.
Our clients come to us in many ways. We are delighted that, since we started in 2011, most of our clients have come to us as the result of a personal recommendation. Some people come to us themselves; others are introduced by their children or relatives and some clients are referred to us by Social Services, the hospital and GPs. Regardless of how you come to Home Instead, it is our goal to provide the same excellent level of care.
Our office at Construct House, Winchester Road, Alresford is open and friendly and you are more than welcome to pay us a visit at any time for a cup of tea and a chat.
Whether you are enquiring about care in the home or you are interested in joining our compassionate and dependable team of CAREGivers, please call us on 01962 736681.

We wanted to pass on our thanks and feedback about our mum. From what we can tell, things are working out really well with the carers. Mum speaks positively about them, and given how resistant she was initially to having help, this is an achievement in itself! She seems to be doing fairly well in herself and so we feel that the carers are a positive influence on her well-being. We are really pleased to hear that she is going for a walk with the carers regularly, and hope that these walks can continue through the winter (unless it's bitterly cold), as they are so beneficial for her. The daily support and social interaction that mum is getting from the carers is helping her and taking some pressure off us, and is much appreciated. Thanks to you all.AW
