Kirsty Hirst - Care Manager
I started my career in social care 14 years ago, in that time my passion and enthusiasm to work with the elderly (as well as my experience) has rocketed. Initially, I started working for a housing association and eventually became Care Manager for one of their residential care homes in Burnham on Sea. It was here where I started to really learn and understand the issues that the elderly experience as they get older. Driven by compassion and a big heart, I’ve stayed within the care industry ever since. As Care Manager, I was responsible for the day to day operations of the care home, but invariably helped our residents to wash, dress, assist with bathing and other aspects of personal care where necessary. There's nothing like hands-on experience to ground you and remind yourself of the difficulties that older people face.
I acknowledge, totally understand, and feel passionate about helping older people to retain their independence and live in their own homes. Who doesn't want to remain in their own home? Home is where the heart is... I joined Home Instead Bristol North as Care Manager in October 2015 and I'm responsible for the day to day organisation of the services we provide. I attend client consultations and love getting to know each and every one of our clients! At Home Instead Bristol North, we know how important it is to deliver a quality, tailored service. Therefore, I keep in close contact with external companies who assist our clients to ensure our care package is bespoke, and can meet any need our clients may have. I'm also responsible for the training and supervision of our big hearted CAREGivers who join our enthusiastic and happy team.
When I'm not at work I have a very busy home life and most of it revolves around my gregarious son. I look forward to continuing to work with the most trusted care company, by providing a consistently high quality service to meet the needs and exceed the expectation of our clients.
John Moore - Director
Hi, I'm John - the founder and owner of Home Instead Bristol North. I am married to my wife, Anna and have 3 lively teenage children aged 19, 15 and 13. We have lived in Bristol for over 30 years, and through personal experience, I understand the importance of great care at home for young and old alike.
My career journey has taken me through large and small firms across industrial and health settings. Home Instead's values and beliefs struck such a chord with me that I decided to establish this service here in my local community - so we can bring joy to our clients and help them continue living comfortably at home.
I'm passionate about us getting this right and recognise that this is all and only possible through our great team of CAREGivers, who are wonderful people and have been well trained. Helen Walwin - Senior Supervisor
Hi, I’m Helen. I’ve worked in the care industry since I was 18 in various sectors including: managing a home for adults with Autism, working in the community with the out of hours district nurse team and working in a nursing home for the elderly. I am also a fully trained Soul Midwife, working with people at the end of their life and supporting their families too.
I am a proud mum of 3 wonderful children who all still live at home with me; our home is filled with love, laughter, fairy lights and a manageable amount of chaos!
I started my journey with Home Instead as a CAREGiver 2 years ago. For the past year, I have been Senior Supervisor, supporting our amazing CAREGivers to deliver outstanding care to our lovely clients. I am passionate about the care we deliver and the values Home Instead hold. In short, I love my job!
Shari-Ann Tovey - Scheduler / Care Coordinator
Hi, my name is Shari-Ann but nearly everyone calls me Shari.
I was born in Bristol and have lived in this great city all my life. I live with my partner Paul, two of my three children and our dog Max. My eldest has recently flown the nest to share a house with friends.
I have been involved in social care for the past 18 years, initially working alongside adults with social learning needs. In my previous position (before joining Home Instead), I was a Care Home Office Manager, looking after a team of carers and 50 clients.
I joined Home Instead Senior Care just over a year ago as the Co-ordinator / Scheduler. It’s a varied role that interests me, and one that I love. My position gives me the opportunity to get to know both the needs of our clients and the strengths of our CAREGivers. Being able to successfully match the two gives me great satisfaction.
It was the emphasis on treating each client as an individual, and the extensive training given to our CAREGivers that attracted me to join the team in Henleaze. It can be a challenging role - no two days are the same, which is just the way I like it.
