Social isolation, loneliness could be greater threat to public health than obesity!

Loneliness and social isolation may represent a greater public health hazard than obesity, and their impact has been growing and will continue to grow, according to research presented at the 125th Annual Convention of the American Psychological Association.

So what can we do about it? Well here at Home Instead Senior Care we provide clients with visits every day with a focus on companionship for our clients to meet there social needs whatever their situation, we do this by carefully matching our clients with our Caregivers so that we ensure relationships can be built.

We are now going to take that one step we are also busy planning events throughout December and further into 2018 which are to support not only our clients but the general over 65's community to support our local area to prevent social isolation and loneliness.

The first event we are running is our Santa to a Senior Event which will see Home Instead Staff taking Christmas Gifts to the patients on Elderly Care Wards in Poole Hospital. This is the first of many so watch this space over the coming weeks for more information on activities which Home Instead Senior Care Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch are bringing to a community near you!
