The Salford and Worsley Team
Nicky Leack, Registered Care Manager
I have worked in the care sector since 2004 in various settings and started my career as a carer. I progressed quickly into management of services, gaining my NVQ level 5 in Leadership and Management of care services. I am delighted to be the Registered Care Manager at Home Instead, Salford and Worsley - an office which has recently achieved an 'outstanding' CQC rating - an amazing achievement. Giving back is a big part of my personal philisophy and I was excited to find that there is a care company that feels the same way! I am now able to come to work every day, to a place where I know that not only are my techninical skills valuable, but my personal philosophies are as well. I am dedicated and passionate about making sure that people are provided with the highest quality service, and that we can make a difference to peoples' lives. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my partner and three beautiful children.
A selection of our outstanding CAREGivers. Every one individual and unique. All share common traits:
Patience, kindness, empathy, attentiveness, dependability, sense of humour and integrity.
We are delighted that CQC has recognised the quality of care delivered by our exceptional CAREGivers.
Susan Robinson & Jo Shaughnessy
Susan Robinson and Jo Shaughnessy opened the Salford office in February 2016, after finding Home Instead while seeking care for Susan’s mother. They were so impressed by what Home Instead Senior Care had to offer, they decided to bring this special blend of caring to their local community.
Susan had owned and managed two exciting businesses in the past and more recently had volunteered and worked in several primary schools in Salford. A large proportion of her time involved developing relationships between school, families and the wider community.
Jo has enjoyed supporting and advising businesses throughout her accountancy career. Jo’s other passion is people and she felt quite disheartened when searching for quality care for Susan’s mother. However, ‘when we talked to Home Instead National Office about the ethos and goals of the company, we quickly realised that Home Instead Senior Care is a company that we would be proud to be part of and represent. Home Instead Senior Care delivers exceptional care and people are at the heart of everything we do.’
In October 2017 the Salford office was rated ‘outstanding’ from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of health and social care in England. Outstanding is the highest rating available from the CQC. and Home Instead Salford has achieved the standard less that two years after opening the office.
In summing up the caring nature of the business inspectors wrote, ‘The feedback we received from people who used the service was unanimously positive both about the care they received and the CAREGivers. People consistently told us CAREGivers provided an excellent level of care which was dedicated, compassionate and centred on what they wanted.’ They went on to say, ‘We saw specific examples of where CAREGivers had gone ‘above and beyond’ for people who used their service.
Susan and Jo are delighted that their team have been recognised for supplying ‘tip top’ care and are determined to continue to do so. Jo and Susan believe ‘together with the other 190+ Home Instead Senior Care offices throughout the U.K. we can, and we will change the face of ageing. With 22 offices already receiving ‘outstanding’ from CQC and Home Instead Senior Care receiving the Queens Award for Innovation in 2016, we are very confident about the future.’
Sarah joined our team as a CAREGiver and has successfully supported many of our Clients. The feedback from Clients and fellow CAREGivers has always been positive and complimentary and she has always gone ‘above and beyond’ of what has been expected of her. Sarah has had a varied career to date including customer service, sales and accounting. However, Sarah has always had a yearning to work within the health and social care field and eventually found Home Instead Senior Care, Salford and Worsley. Her recent promotion to Care Co Ordinator is a natural progression for Sarah and we wish her much success in her new role.
Madison joined our outstanding team in March 2018 as our office administrator.
Madison left school after gaining an excellent selection of GCSE's. At this time Madison decided that she wanted to enter the world of work and secured a position at Matalan followed by Asda. During thistwo year period Madison honed her customer service skills. Although she enjoyed working in the retail environment Madison decided she wanted to continue with her education combined with work. As a result of this desire she secured an apprentice position with Home Instead Senior Care working towards an NVQ in Business and Administration.
Madison has a wicked sense of humour, smiles her way through the day, works hard, enjoys learning and is a pleasure to have as a work colleague. We are delighted she has joined our team.

Pip is one of our amazing office dogs who is always pleased to meet and greet and listen to everyone. Pip's tail is an indicator of her happiness! Pip and Milly are best friends and work very well together as part of our 'outstanding' team.
Milly also enjoys the sunshine and meeting new people.
Milly is very proud to be part of the Home Instead Salford & Worsley team!
I have worked for Home Instead for seven months and thoroughly enjoy my role.
I have found the management approach to be a 'breath of fresh air' compared to other employers, management are always approachable and understand the simple concept that if carers are happy the clients in turn will reap the benefits.
I look forward to my visits and I have met some wonderful people, it really is a mutually beneficial relationship. Supporting someone to remain in their own home, or to venture out when and where they wish is 'food for the soul'. It is such a privilege to be welcomed into people's homes and lives.
Our clients are so intriguing and inspiring, diverse and rich in life experience. Like different facets of a precious jewel, which is treasured.
I look forward to a long career with Home Instead Senior care.CAREGiver's story ......
