I have always worked in health care. I started my career as a student nurse at the tender age of 18.
After qualifying three years later I undertook many roles specialising in Cardiology and Emergency Care reaching Matron level.
I took some time out to raise my two sons and then returned to work again working in healthcare but working in the community caring for clients in their own home.
I have spent the last 18 months supporting my father who had a stroke.
Recently moving to the area with my partner I was looking for a new role and by chance found the Home Instead website.
I still want to “make a difference” and the more I found out about Home Instead the more I wanted to be a part of a company who really does put quality care first.
I am passionate about quality care, particularly with elderly clients.

Setting up my own business has been part of a truly life changing period of my life. In 2010 I received the devastating news that I had secondary cancer. Since then life has been a whirlwind of treatment (all successful thank goodness) and making major changes to ensure that I live the life I want to in the future. It may sound strange but the experience I have been through has genuinely changed my life for the better. The people that I have met in the care sector have been amazing and have inspired me to do something worthwhile and meaningful, to dedicate myself to helping others.
I have left behind my job as an executive of a company which took me to America and across Europe for a role which is much more important to me, one where I can use my knowledge and business experience to do what really matters in life, which is ensuring good quality care is available for people when they need it.

Laura Paterson Moody - Registered Care Manager
I have always worked in the caring profession and started by working in care and nursing homes as a teenager. I gained a diploma in Nursing from The Royal University of Surrey. I have worked in elderly care, medical and vascular surgery. I stopped nursing to have a family and have also lived abroad for a number of years. The opportunity arose to join Home Instead and I feel it has given me a chance to use the knowledge and skills that I have gained, not just from my nursing but from my own life experiences. Home Instead is very different from other care organisations, they really do concern themselves not only with the quality of care given but also with making a difference, for example the office staff work tirelessly to see that the clients are happy with their CAREGiver and will endeavour to find them the perfect match.
Quality is of utmost importance and my role is to ensure that standards and quality of care are maintained at all times. I am delighted to be part of a team where people really matter as that is what care is all about.
Gaynor Cronin - Coordinator
Having been a stay at home mum raising four children, I decided it was time for a change for me and do something different.
Still keeping within my comfort zone of caring I decided to become a CAREGiver for Home Instead Senior Care. How pleased I was to make the change! I have now been working for Home Instead since
May 2014 and have enjoyed every minute.
My clients have been a joy to work with and it gives me so much pleasure knowing that I have made a difference to someone’s day and made them smile.
I am now working as part of office team as the Care Coordinator. This can be quite stressful at times but I am so lucky to have been given this opportunity. I still give care daily as I would not want to lose my clients but having been a CAREGiver and knowing all there is about the difficulties that can arise I have been able to understand and help more efficiently and with empathy in this new role.
Joining Home Instead has helped me find not only myself but a confidence I never knew I had.

I joined Home Instead in 2012 because I had heard good reviews about it. Due to the company’s good reputation, I had great expectations about the level of care the company provided.
I’m happy to say I was not disappointed. As a CAREGiver, it is great to be able to meet new people. My clients and I have the same personality, which helps us to get along really well. Going from CAREGiver to Team Leader is a challenge, but it’s incredibly rewarding. It has helped me to learn new things about the care industry and to gain more experience. However, not being with my clients as often as I used to is not easy. At Home Instead, we create a connection with them.
Home Instead really is about good care, and it’s a pleasure to have such a fulfilling role in this industry.
Lynne Green - Area Supervisor
Originally, I started doing care work at the age of twenty and continued to do this for 5 more years in a care home. After that, I worked in the maternity department of St Peter’s hospital and did help with baby deliveries before going on to have three of my own children.
I went on to work as a catering manager at a school for 14 enjoyable years before returning to a career as a caring professional and choosing to work for Home Instead. From the outset the staff were friendly and lovely as I started working as a CAREGiver at weekends and loved it. It is especially wonderful when you are able to build a relationship with the same clients and their families over time.
I was rewarded with the opportunity to become a full-time Area Supervisor for Home Instead in August 2018 and I am enjoying developing my career in the office while continuing to be able to work and help some clients. It’s a very rewarding job and I love it!

5 years ago, I decided I needed a career change. Day in day out my job was always the same, so after careful consideration and discussions with my husband, I left to seek something more rewarding. It didn’t take me long. I saw an advertisement to become a Caregiver with Home Instead Senior Care, applied and never looked back.
My day to day routine is never the same, but every day I smile. Whether it be with my wonderful clients who I visit on a regular basis or one of the girls I work with in the office. I have the best of both worlds.
My clients are special to me and I hope they get as much pleasure with me visiting them, as they give to me. We laugh, we sing, we sometimes cry but every day is rewarding, and I leave with the knowledge that today, I made a difference in someone’s life, albeit a small difference.
Equally my work in the office making our wonderful CAREGivers compliant is very rewarding. We have mad days and glad days, but we get through them together as a team and we smile.
For me there is no other job, I just wish I had changed careers 30 years ago.
After a career in general finance and administration roles for both global and small, growing businesses, the Home Instead opportunity arrived at a time when I felt I had a choice to support people in a more caring environment and achieve greater personal fulfilment.
Now that my family and two boys seem to need me less, it’s wonderful to be able to work with genuinely caring, warm and thoughtful professionals and I hope to be able to be able to take some of the time-consuming, but important administrative duties off their shoulders while sharing some of the rewarding times and stories. I just want to enable and support the whole team so they can continue to support all of our clients and CAREGivers in the best possible way.
