York home care provider Home Instead Senior Care linked up with a local cookery school to host a "Baking Memories" event for Dementia Awareness Week 2012. This was a completely free event sponsored by Home Instead Senior Care who works closely with clients who suffer from Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia. The idea was that a baking workshop would give the participants to try their hand at skills that have most likely been with them since they were children and at the same time provide a multi-sensory experience. On the menu were lemon drizzle cake, ginger biscuits and tiffin. Everyone seemed to have a great time and the feedback has led Home Instead to consider organising these workshops and other day time activities more regularly.
