Elderly people in Wigan can expect a more personal and sustained care thanks to a new service. Home Instead, based in Pemberton Business Centre, Richmond Hill, opened three months ago and specialises in tailor-made care for pensioners in their own homes. Each client is given a personal carer who can offer one-to-one care based on their own needs. All carers go through intense training, catered entirely for Home Instead, and have gone through POVA (Protection of Vulnerable Adults) and enhanced CRB checks.
Phil Eckersley, owner, said: “We try to help people become more independent in their own homes or sheltered accommodation. The care is tailored to individuals, as we work around them and take a person-centred holistic approach to our care service. We don’t have block contracts, which is where the client is cared for in 15 or 30 minute blocks. This doesn’t provide the kind of quality of care our Clients are looking for. So what we do is try to provide excellent quality service, focusing on individual needs. The caregivers are like extended family members, as they become the Clients’ companions and friends.”
Home Instead, which began in America in 1994 and spread to the UK in 2005, provides carers from the age of 20 to 80 years of age, with a wide range of hobbies and interests to suit a Clients requirements.
Home Instead is located in Pemberton Business Centre, Richmond Hill, Pemberton. For more information call 01942 215 888.
