Home Instead’s purpose is to "change the face of ageing" by becoming the most respected home care company in the UK. In practical terms for me this means building a local team of people with passion, enthusiasm and commitment; who want to help the elderly in our community remain independent in their own homes for as long as possible. The key criteria I look for when recruiting new team members is empathy. This is not something that can be trained and indeed many of our team have direct experience in looking after a family member themselves.
I had first-hand experience of trying to find the right care for my Aunt Marge who suffered with Alzheimer’s disease. We just could not find the right care to suit her needs, and felt that there was no option for her but to move into a residential care home where she rapidly went downhill and sadly passed away two months later. I am sure that Marge would have lived longer and been far happier in her own home, I want to provide this choice for other people. The ethos of Home Instead really stood out to me as they focus on service first and business second. I want to provide a service that I would be happy to use for myself and my family.
Sometimes it’s the simple things that matter, like having the same person coming at times that suit you, to do the things that you want. It’s not difficult, but it makes all the difference.
Our office is open in Watford Business Park and you are welcome to pop in any time for a chat and a cup of tea. I am also keen to become involved in local community events and fundraising initiatives to help the elderly in our community.
