Clarissa Roberts MBE, Volunteer Services Manager for Voluntary Action Stratford-on-Avon District (VASA), is looking for new ways to generate funds and income for the charity as traditional funding is squeezed.
The charity is pleased to announce sponsorship of an initiative to support its Volunteer Transport Service, which takes people in Stratford District with a genuine need and without their own transport to medical appointments at hospitals, dentists, doctors’ surgeries and day centres.
The sponsorship is being provided by Phil Maundrill and his Stratford-based business Home Instead Senior Care, which specialises in at-home care for local older people. Home Instead Senior Care has sponsored donation envelopes allowing passengers to make a voluntary donation for their journey should they wish, on top of the national Volunteer Driver rate of 45p per mile.
What’s really special about the envelopes is that they are printed with full Gift Aid details, allowing VASA to reclaim the tax on any donations. In this way the charity will receive £12.50 for every £10 donated by basic rate taxpayers.
Commenting on Home Instead’s support, Clarissa said, “We are delighted with this welcome boost to our fundraising. Home Instead has provided us with 3,000 very smart envelopes and they are starting to be used.”
Last year VASA arranged more than 27,000 passenger trips and they are forecasting to do the same this year. It currently has 220 volunteer drivers. Speaking about VASA, Phil Maundrill said, “The work VASA does is really important in the local community and we are really pleased to have been able to help.”
