Home Instead Senior Care is owned by David and Joanna Moore. "We started providing care in Stockport in August 2006. Our first Client was looked after by our daughter Louise, who was our first CAREGiver.
David says "I started out my working life as an engineer, building chemical plants and designing components for nuclear submarines. For the last 20 years I have been in the textile industry, latterly flying the world to source low cost labour to manufacture combat clothing and work wear. I decided that there had to be more to life!"
Joanna says "I trained as a medical secretary after leaving college. After our two children were born I worked at the Playgroup and then as a Teaching Assistant at Primary School. I worked as a volunteer at toddler group and rainbow Guides."
Joanna and I looked at a number of franchise opportunities but eventually chose to run a Home Instead Senior Care franchise because it presented a real chance to make a difference to peoples lives. We wanted to work within our local community having lived in Stockport for most of our lives and having had personal experience of poor care for Joanna's Grandmother.
From the very beginning we set out to provide high quality, personalised service to enable Clients to live independently in their own home, to improve their quality of life and allow them to make choices about their lifestyle. We have continually strived hard to achieve this by building the right team in the office and recruiting Caregivers who have the necessary experience, skills and particularly, empathy for supporting people.
We have built a fantastic reputation for providing the highest quality support and by making available a range of services to giving people choice and allowing them to make decisions about how they want to live their life. We have established close relationships with organisations such as Age Concern, Alzheimer's Society, Signpost and Disability Stockport. We work with Social Workers and the Stockport Social Services and District Nurses and the PCT Continuing Health Care Team.
