The re-launch of Oldham's dignity campaign kicked of yesterday with an action packed Dignity Action Day event and proved to be a huge success with all who attended. The event, organised by the dignity task group; a consortium of services from the private and public sector, was attended by a cross section of approximately 80 health and social care professionals and local politicians. Motivational speakers inspired the crowd with talks, personal stories and exercises. Throughout the day there was a focus on encouraging people to sign up as national Dignity Champions with live systems on hand for immediate sign up http://www.dignityincare.org.uk/BecomingADignityChampion/

The object of the task group over the next 12 months is to raise awareness of current good practice and spread the word of all the existing good work being carried out in the borough, hopefully creating an infectious spread.

Further information around Oldham’s very own Dementia & Dignity Champions, along with newsletters and web address’s will follow soon.
