Home Instead Senior Care in Macclesfield is warning its clients and other elderly people in the area of a bogus letter which has already been received by a number of Home Instead Caregivers and their clients in the Macclesfield area.
The postmarked letter arrives via Royal Mail and appears legitimate. It states that, following the death of a distant relative, the recipient is the sole beneficiary of a large amount of money and, in order to claim the money, they need to respond to the given email address.
Steve Akroyd, owner of Home Instead Senior Care in Macclesfield said, “This letter is particularly plausible and is intended to lure people into making contact with a view to extracting valuable personal financial information. It appears that it originates in Hong Kong and like many similar approaches which come from an unknown contact, is a total hoax. We want to make people aware that they should not respond, simply destroy the letter and not be drawn in.”
Home Instead Senior Care is an award winning national company which provides care for people in their own homes. Services range from companionship, meal preparation and housekeeping through to personal care, post-discharge care and medication reminders.
