The Macclesfield office of national award winning home care company, Home Instead Senior Care, is looking to recruit up to 50 more carers over the next 6 months to assist them in meeting the increasing demand for home care for adults, including the elderly, across the area.
The business was set up by couple Steve and Julie Akroyd at the beginning of 2007. Over the past three years the business has grown steadily but the couple report that demand for their service, which provides care for adults in their own homes, has reached unprecedented levels and more carers are urgently required to serve clients in Macclesfield, Prestbury, Wilmslow, Poynton, Congleton and the surrounding areas.
Commenting, Steve said: “We have people requiring care right now and so we are very keen to encourage more local people to consider a career in caring. For people with no prior experience we provide a full training programme but we do often find that the people who come to us have experience looking after a relative or friend.”
Lynn, mother of two, did just that and became a Home Instead carer last year. She says, “For me, it’s perfect; I have been able to do the hours I want and fit them in around my family commitments. It’s interesting work because I get out and about in the community and I love the fact that I visit the same clients regularly because I can really get to know them. This makes a huge difference to the clients and makes my job very rewarding.”
As the UK’s population ages, the need for care services will increase. Recent figures show that by 2025 there will be over 13 million people in the UK aged over 65, many of whom will require care.
