Welcome to Home Instead Senior Care in Luton and Central Bedfordshire. I would like to introduce myself, Maria Collins, as the owner of the company. I have a wealth of experience in health and care services spanning over 30 years, culminating as a Director at Great Ormond Street Hospital. I have been privileged in gaining further experience from a local perspective by being a Trustee of Keech Hospice Care, and nationally as Board member of the Faculty of Public Health.
Raised and educated in Luton, I began my career as a nurse at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital before setting up a district–wide infection control service. As my career progressed, I was appointed as Deputy Director of Public Health for Camden and Islington Health Authority and also led a team in London managing healthcare across 8 prisons which took some juggling! Caring is my vocation and I have always been passionate about delivering high quality care.
I have used my nursing skills outside of work. For some time I have cared for both parents through their own long term illness as well as supporting friends and their families during their particular journeys with motor neurone disease and multiple sclerosis. Through this hands-on experience I have seen the positive impact that high quality care can really have on people’s lives.
In 2010 I had an epiphany moment when I thought of setting up my own business, one that I could shape and build around my personal high standards. The care we offer here is truly second-to-none and I am proud to have cultivated such a supportive and responsive team with so much to give. Like me, my team also feels passionately about contributing to the local community and we love to initiate local events as well as participate in local charity events to give something back.
I genuinely believe that there are always opportunities to continually develop improve and create personalised care to meet the changing needs of those that we care for. Whether it is friends, family or clients, we strive to go above and beyond and offer a flexible, professional and personal service to those that we serve.
