Home Instead Senior Care in Hemel Hempstead is holding a Carers Information Event on Thursday 13 June from 11am-2pm at the Leverstock Green Community Centre for Carers. The event, which coincides with Carers Week (10-16 June), is free of charge and is open to all members of the community, who will be welcomed with a selection of tea and cakes.
Carers Week is a UK wide annual awareness campaign which celebrates and recognises the contribution the UK’s 6.5 million carers make to the people they care for and their communities. It also aims to improve the lives of carers and the people they care for, help the public identify themselves as carers and allow people to access the appropriate support and information they need.
The free event which is open to professional and family carers, as well as their loved ones and clients, will offer free advice and information about the services available to them in their local area and most importantly, where to find additional support. Exhibitors at the event set to include: Age UK, Alzheimer’s Society, Stroke Association, Carers in Herts, Hemel Hempstead Fire Brigade and Hertfordshire Constabulary.
A spokesman for Home Instead, who provide personalised care and support to older people in their own homes, explained, “Events like these are so important because many families struggle to know where to turn for support and advice when caring for their elderly loved ones, especially so when a crisis hits.
A number of local organisations will be on hand to offer advice on an assortment of topics and there will also be the opportunity to raise any concerns that you may have as a carer and discuss these face to face with people who are in a similar situation. We are hoping the event will be both useful and insightful and are excited that key organisations throughout the local community are set to be involved.
