Relaxing hand massages, delicious home-made cakes, coffee, poems and a good natter were all enjoyed by the residents at Montpellier Court, the supported housing facility in the centre of Harrogate, during a pamper morning to mark Dignity Action Day on 2nd February.
The event was organized by local home care company Home Instead Senior Care who have pledged their continuing support for the national ‘Dignity in Care’ campaign, headed by Dignity Ambassador Sir Michael Parkinson to promote treating older people with dignity as a basic human right.
This year’s theme for the day was ‘giving someone the gift of time’ and Home Instead Caregivers were on hand to share stories and their time with all the residents. The team were joined by Nicole Inggall, a professional mobile beauty therapist from ‘Gorgeous on the Go’, who was kept busy giving hand and shoulder massages. Poems on dignity were available to read and share plus a ‘Dignity Tree’ where everyone wrote down on the leaves what dignity meant to them.
Home Instead owner Sheena Van Parys commented: “It is important for us to raise awareness of Dignity Action Day as we believe that care services must be person centered; people must be treated with respect, as individuals, and provided with the high quality care they expect and deserve.”
Home Instead Senior Care is changing the way care is delivered in the UK.
