My father-in-law was struggling with his day to day life, due to ill health, and was relying more and more on his sons and their families. Problems with previous care providers were that carers did not turn up on time and on a few occasions did not turn up at all. Senior members of staff did not seem at all bothered. Home Instead listened to my needs. We receive regular contact with staff to ensure their services are being executed correctly. We appreciate their time and efforts and like the fact we receive one carer and that a good relationship can be achieved, unlike our previous provider who sent someone different almost every day. A pensioner myself, I was struggling to cope with my 92 year old mother from morning until night. Home Instead spend 1½ hours every day Monday to Friday in the morning to wake her, dress her and give her breakfast. The carer also spends a couple of hours twice a week with my mother to enable me to go out with peace of mind. I now have a carer whom my mother adores. Mum wasn't eating and we were unable to make sure mum had a meal everyday. After being admitted to hospital we had to put a care package in place before Mum came home but Mum refused to be assessed by Local Services.
