As part of a programme of events that we will be attending during the year we took part in the Langar April Fete on Saturday. We will be using such events to raise awareness of issues that the elderly face in trying to maintain their independence. Richard took part in the car boot sale and all funds raised will be going to the Alzheimer's Society.

Richard commented "The inclement weather did not prevent the event being a success. There was a steady flow of people who came to see what we had to sell and chat about friends and relatives who suffer from Alzheimer’s. 570,000 people are known to have Alzheimer’s in England and this number will grow dramatically over the next 10 to 15 years as the percentage of over 65’s increases. Events such as the April Fete are a way of meeting people from all walks of life whose friends or family members' lives have been affected by dementia. Having the opportunity to explain how our service can make a difference and help someone maintain their independence by staying in their own home surrounded by the memories and comforts that have taken a lifetime to collect is really important in allowing a family to make an informed decision about the right type of support."
