Home Instead East Northants, based in Higham Ferrers, have just had a hectic few weeks of events associated with Dementia Care week and Carers Week. Firstly, the company arranged for its Training Manager, Lynne Delbridge, to present a version of its City & Guilds approved dementia training programme to more than 30 relatives of clients and potential referrers of future clients from within the local community.

Secondly, an open day took place at the business premises at the Moulton College site in Chelveston Road. This was attended by many carers employed by the company, clients and other interested parties. Staff organised various fundraising and awareness activities, raising a total of £270 for the chosen charity, The Alzheimer’s Society, who also exhibited at the event.

Thirdly, the company provided support for their networker and East Northants Council Older People’s Champion, Sue Homer, at her Care in the Community awareness event, which was staged at Rushden Hall. This event attracted exhibitors from organisations such as Parkinson’s, MacMillan, the Good Care Group, Neighbourhood Watch, Spire Homes, Age UK,NAB, Stroke UK , Serve and Northamptonshire Kidney patients Association.

Owner Mark Darnell said,  “We have been very pleased with all of these events which have helped provide valuable information to the local community about high quality care services, raising awareness and approved training opportunities for care workers, and support organisations for elderly, disabled and vulnerable persons.” More information can be obtained from Home Instead by calling 01933 358708 or at www.homeinstead.co.uk/eastnorthants
