About Care in Derby South

Home Instead Senior Care South Derbyshire is owned by Andy Ryans, who started providing care in the area in 2009.

Following my completion of a degree in Economics, I became a part-time lecturer at Nottingham Trent University and then moved into the airline industry, writing rosters for pilots and cabin crew. The majority of my working life has been spent in commercial and operational roles managing call centres. However, I eventually decided that the time was right to run my own business, which was an ambition I had considered for many years.

I chose to run a Home Instead Senior Care franchise because it presented a real chance to make a difference to peoples’ lives. I also wanted to work within my local community having lived in Derby for most of my life.

There are currently three of us in the office, myself and my Care Manager, Gillian Mansfield and an Administrator, Amanda Parker. From the beginning, we have set out to provide the best possible support to enable Clients to live independently, to improve their quality of life and to allow them to make choices about their lifestyle. I will continue to strive hard to achieve this by building the right team in the office and recruiting Caregivers who have the necessary experience, skills and, particularly, empathy for vulnerable adults.
