Franchise Owner - Chris Broadbent

Franchise Owner - Chris Broadbent

I worked in corporate sales for 30 years prior to acquiring the Chester office of Home Instead in 2008. I was attracted to the ethos of Home Instead after both my father and godmother were unable to stay at home during their final few years as the type of support we offer simply wasn't available at the time.

I am extremely proud to deliver such high-quality at-home care in Chester and see the positive impact that the service we deliver has on local people's lives; not just the people we care for directly but their families too. What's also important for me is that we are creating employment opportunities in the community.

Franchise Owner & Care Manager - Sue Broadbent

Franchise Owner & Care Manager - Sue Broadbent

I'm the care manager at Home Instead Chester, responsible for the wellbeing and welfare of all the Chester office clients and caregivers.

Prior to setting up Home Instead I worked as a senior enrolled orthopedic nurse at Chester Royal Infirmary and has also worked at a nursing home in Glasgow. All in all I spent over 20 years working in nursing, apart from a few career breaks for family!

For me it's quite simple, I love what I do. Providing home care is so rewarding as our clients are delightful and we employ a fantastic team of caregivers.

Recruitment/Retention & Training Co-ordinator - Helen Porter

Recruitment/Retention & Training Co-ordinator - Helen Porter

I’ve been with Home Instead since the opening of the Chester office in 2005 and prior to that worked for a local hospice in the fundraising department and I’ve also worked as a carer. For many years I worked in business as a PA and secretary, a job which took me across the world..

As the recruitment and retention officer it’s my job to ensure we employ the right people. Once they are with us I make sure they are happy in their roles so that we retain them as loyal employees and I work to ensure that their skills are up to date. I am also a fully qualified trainer and deliver the company’s relevant training packages

I was attracted to Home Instead Senior Care by the company’s values and ethics, particularly the idea of independence for the elderly and disabled and the prospect and challenge of helping to grow the company.

Scheduler & Payroll - Lorraine Pearson

Scheduler & Payroll - Lorraine Pearson

Hi, I'm Lorraine and there are two sides to my job. Firstly it's my responsibility to allocate all our caregivers work and ensure that they are in the right place at the right time. This is a really vital role within the business. The second part of my job (and also very important!) is organising the payroll and doing our billing.

I have quite a lot of experience in the care sector and worked for a number of other companies before joining Home Instead in Chester, where I have been for over five years. I initially joined the company as a caregiver but Chris and Sue needed another pair of hands in the office and I was more than happy to assist.

In my spare time I'm studying a Sage accountancy course at college, refining my expertise with a business course.

Scheduler/Administrator - Nia Cooke

Scheduler/Administrator - Nia Cooke

I’m Nia and before joining the Home Instead Senior Care team I worked in senior care for Cheshire County Council in a similar role. I was interested in the position with Home Instead, applied, and have been here since 2007. My roles include scheduling caregivers and performing service calls for clients, service reviews, quality assurance and co-ordination. This is an intrinsic part of our service and it’s always a pleasure to be out and about with our caregivers, meeting our lovely clients in the Chester area.

Heather is our admin assistant who had joined us through our apprenticeship scheme. Heather's key roles include supporting our scheduler Nia and assisting Helen with training. She is already 50% of the way through her Business Administration Advanced Apprenticeship and is progressing well. Heather has great work ethic and is hoping to progress with the company after her 12 month placement is complete.
