Amanda Hamer who owns Home Instead Senior Care in Cheltenham has this week presented a cheque for over £200 to her local Alzheimer's Society.

Amanda and the team at Home Instead have been working hard to make and sell decorative craft items to raise money for the cause. As they provide care for older people to allow them to live independently in their own homes, the team know all too well the difficulties facing someone affected by Alzheimer's.

Amanda takes up the story: "Our at-home care service covers Cheltenham, Cotswolds, Tewkesbury, Cirencester and surrounding areas and we are all too familiar with the problems facing our clients with dementia. That is why we wanted to give something back to the Alzheimer's Society for the fantastic work they do to help those affected by dementia".

Family and friends all helped to produce handmade greetings cards, children's toys and decorative craft items which the Home Instead team has used to attract donations and has also sold at local markets, including holding a stall at Bath Road Market in Cheltenham just before Christmas.

This week Amanda was able to collect her takings and present a cheque to Jude Crowther, manager of Gloucestershire Alzheimer's Society. Jude comments, "We were really grateful to receive this generous donation from Amanda and the Home Instead team. They all went to such lengths to create these beautiful craft products and we really appreciate their hard work and support".

The Gloucestershire Alzheimer's Society has a variety of events regularly taking place across the county, including Memory Cafes in Cheltenham, Tewkesbury and Cirencester and also has Dementia Advisors who are able to offer advice and support.
