This summer, Home Instead Senior Care packed folding chairs, rugs and a large picnic and headed off to Cirencester Park for the LINC Charity Polo Day.

Despite the windy weather (which threatened to whisk away both the gazebo and the sandwiches), guests enjoyed a fun afternoon watching the matches, divot stomping and learning more about this fascinating sport.

Cirencester Park Polo Club was founded in 1896 and is the oldest club in the UK. Both Prince William and Prince Harry have played at Cirencester on numerous occasions.

The purpose of the event was to raise funds for LINC (the Leukaemia and Intensive Chemotherapy Fund) and the Home Instead Senior Care team was delighted to be able to contribute by raising over £350.

LINC is an important local healthcare charity which works to improve the care of cancer patients in Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and South Worcestershire. It provides financial and psychological support for people receiving intensive chemotherapy in the three counties cancer centre in Cheltenham as well as their families and loved ones.

The charity helps to ensure that long stays in hospital are as comfortable as possible and by purchasing new equipment and funding update courses for staff, it aims to ensure the treatment on offer is second to none. LINC also funds the Robert Dalton Research Fellow - a post for a graduate student studying for either an MSc or a PhD in a cancer related subject.
