Drawing over 100 visitors, 25 exhibitors, Jonathan Morgan, AM, and not forgetting Elvis impersonator Paul Richie, the first ‘Cardiff Older Person’s Day’ event held at the Ararat Church Community Centre in Whitchurch was pronounced a huge hit by all who attended.
Visitors were not only able to fact find from a host of local companies and organisations about serious issues affecting the elderly of Cardiff, but they also had a lot of fun with free flowing coffee and cakes, free reflexology from Dianne Daly and Elvis performing to the crowd throughout the day. A varied list of exhibitors provided a wide range of information from Arthritis Care to South Wales Police Community Team to Wendy Hopkins Family Law and Dianne Daly, Reflexology and Reiki and many more.
Jonathan Morgan, Assembly Member who attended the event was hugely supportive “Philip Batchelor has to receive praise indeed for bringing together so many companies and organisations with the sole purpose of helping our older people. I spoke to many people who felt that it had been wonderful to talk to and get advice about issues that affect older people from a number of different people and all in the same place. The event was superb and I hope to be able to support it again next year”.
Cardiff Older Person’s Day was the idea of Philip Batchelor owner of Home Instead Senior Care in Cardiff who provide at home care for the elderly and he was equally delighted with the day and wanted to thank everyone involved “I just wanted to provide a one stop shop of advice and of course fun for the older people in our area and their families. We can only achieve the best care for the elderly by joining together as a community and we certainly did that. Everyone was sensational and I look forward to the event being even bigger and better next year.”
