Easter time in Cannock

Caregivers from Home Instead Senior Care in Cannock came up with a lovely idea to give their elderly clients a really special treat for Easter.

What could be better than a delivery of gorgeous chocolate Easter eggs from a splendid Miniature Schnauzer dog, Miri.

Care Manager, Ruth Coughlan, said: “Many of our clients have owned dogs but are not now able to have one at home. We knew that they would really enjoy having a visit from one of our dogs, so we decided that we would take them along to deliver an Easter present to brighten up their day.”

Home Instead client, Theresa, who lives in Rugeley has had visits from Miri before and had mentioned that she would love to see her again. Theresa was delighted with the visit and her Easter egg

Ruth continued “We have Miri and Daizey May and they both just love to meet people and are incredibly friendly, but they did look a bit miffed at first when we put the bunny ears on them, but they quickly got used to them and quite liked all the attention. We have to say they made everyone smile and raised quite a few laughs!”

But there is also a serious message, older people can often feel isolated and lonely at holiday times, especially if they are alone or their family doesn’t live locally, so Home Instead are asking people to remember their elderly neighbours and perhaps just pop by to say hello.
