We were so delighted with Home Instead that we used them twice, for my grandmother and also for my father. Both times, Home Instead visited them at home, talked through their needs, likes, dislikes etc and matched the absolutely ideal carer. We had been advised by friends that there was a good chance it would take a while to find someone to help, with loved ones not taking to carers or carers being unsuitable so we were expecting a tricky time. We were so delighted and unbelievably relieved when we met Jo, who helped my grandmother and aunt (who has learning difficulties). She was so kind, understanding and just brilliant with them both. My Dad had suffered with Parkinsons for a while and it had got to the point where he needed a bit more help. Within a matter of days, Paul had been introduced. My Dad really enjoyed his company and appreciated his sensitive approach to what was a very difficult time in his life. It's not easy accepting a stranger into your home and life but both times, Home Instead got it absolutely right, first time. I couldn't recommend them highly enough. Mum has not had good experiences in the past with Care Agencies, and is quite nervous and unsettled when a new person visits the house. I am delighted to say that the carers from Home Instead have all struck up a very good rapport with Mum and have clearly gained her trust and she truly looks forward to them visiting. The fact that the carers treat Mum as a person and are spending time talking to her normally and encouraging her to look through photographs etc has, I am sure contributed to this, and I have noticed a distinct improvement in her general demeanour she is a lot happier in herself. Initially I needed Home Instead to cover a short term resource problem, but I am now using Homeinstead for support long term for Mum as I have been so pleased with the service.- David - Sheffield

A number of years ago, we were discussing care for our elderly parents with Age Concern. They advised that they had heard of a "new" Company in the area, Home Instead, but as yet had no feedback about them. We had a quick browse of the web site and decided to take "a gamble". It was the best gamble we ever took, a winner all round. Initially, our requirements were simple, someone to do a little housework and provide a little companionship. Home instead filled the brief, readily, effectively, professionally and above all, with a smile and a "can do" attitude. Over the many years that we have been using their services, our parents needs have changed, become more complex and demanding. Home Instead have always been ready and able to step up to the mark, demonstrate a wonderfully flexible attitude, offer positive suggestions and deliver what they say they will. It is always amazing how they can react to any emergency to deliver an excellent service 'at the drop of a hat'. Fab-u-lous! Additionally, the people employed by Home Instead are of a high calibre whether Caregivers or the Office Teams. I would and do trust, the lives of our parents with any one of them.!! We know they are in good hands. For example, the Caregivers don't just work to a script, complete a 'to do list' , they are proactive. Our Caregivers not only shop, but also look for tempting items that may stimulate appetite. They are always looking for positive ways to motivate, stimulate and encourage a better quality of life.
