Hippocampus:
Deep in the center of the brain, it is believed to help transfer short-term memories into long-term memories.
Frontal Lobe:
Responsible for facial recognition, learned social responses, and long-term memories.
Temporal Lobe:
Located on both sides of the brain, it processes sounds and stores short-term memories.
Left Hemisphere:
Responsible for understanding the meaning of both speech and writing.
Left Temporal Lobe:
Focuses on comprehension, naming, verbal memory and other language functions, and also responsible for hearing.
Frontal Lobe:
Controls planning, problem solving, and knowing the difference between right and wrong.
Prefrontal Lobe:
Controls emotions, personality, and recognition of long-term memories.
Parietal Lobe:
Processes touch and is in control of motor signals, like movement of the arm, hand, and manipulation of objects.
Occipital Lobe:
Controls sight and processes what is seen.
Prefrontal Lobe:
This small region processes scents and smells.
Temporal Lobes:
Both the right and left lobes are responsible for hearing.
Cerebellum:
It sits at the base of the cerebrum and controls coordination and balance.
Medulla:
Also known as the brain stem, it connects the brain to the spinal cord controlling the heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, and digestion.
