Caregiver, Gillian Mason from Home Instead Senior Care is familiar with taking care of her elderly clients in and around Swansea, but she recently had to go an extra mile or two, all the way to the Baltics!
Her client, Mr Stamford, 77, had for a long time wanted to visit his family, but due to his deteriorating mobility and health he would be unable to travel on his own. Flying was also not an option, so a cruise was to be the answer so Gillian didn’t hesitate and set about arranging the trip.
Gillian explains the reason for the trip, “Mr Stamford was very keen to go on the cruise, particularly as he planned to meet his son who currently lives in Moscow when the cruise visited St Petersburg. He also wanted to visit Oslo where he used to work for many years. I was more than happy to make the necessary arrangements for Mr Stamford’s travel and to accompany and support him as necessary on the trip.”
The pair enjoyed a fabulous journey, calling at beautiful cities such as Stockholm, Helsinki, Copenhagen and Oslo. Mr Stamford commented, “Travelling at my age is not at all easy and I really wanted to make this trip, I had time to see Oslo where I once worked and revisit my old stomping grounds. The highlight of course was being able to meet up with my son and his family.”
