St David’s Day daffodils for Cardiff’s senior citizens
A blooming good time was had by all as the team from ‘at home care’ company, Home Instead Senior Care delivered daffodils and welsh cakes in honour of St David’s Day on the 1st March.
Home Instead owner Philip Batchelor and community support representative Kylie Bishop visited residents of Birch Court Independent Living Facility with a beautiful bunch of daffodils and traditional welsh cakes to celebrate the patriotic holiday and spread a little springtime joy.
Philip comments, “We all had a lovely time and it was great to see the look on the residents faces when we arrived with our little surprise gift! As providers of at-home care for older people living across the area, we like any excuse to spread a little extra joy and happiness to the older generation.”
Both Kylie and Phil enjoyed meeting the Birch Court residents on St David’s day. As well as having a cup of tea and a chat with residents, Phil and Kylie also shared some tips they have received from their own clients on how they manage to stay mobile and maintain their independence.
“Whether someone is a client or not, we believe the older generation should be treasured, and should never feel isolated or lonely. We had a wonderful morning meeting lots of new people and hearing the stories they had to tell of their own Welsh traditions and St David’s Days gone by!”
