The local Burton on Trent office of Home Instead Senior Care, who deliver at-home care to the elderly, delivered cakes as well as care to their clients on 1st October to celebrate Older People’s Day.
Owners John and Jenny Winfieldale worked hard last week to bake delicious cakes for their clients who all got a lovely surprise when they turned up with the special treat.
Commenting, Jenny said “The clients were delighted to see us and especially delighted with their cakes. It was a lovely way to celebrate Older People’s Day with them.”
Older People’s Day is an annual awareness day and events took place across the UK. By 2020, half the population of the UK will be aged 50 or over which will bring fundamental changes to the nature of society.
Older People’s Day is an initiative set to recognise the value of the contribution that older people make to society as in the long term we need to change attitudes about ageing and older people.
