York home care company Home Instead Senior Care hosted an afternoon tea party for all clients and CAREGivers to mark Dignity Action Day in February.
Dignity Action Day gives everyone the opportunity to contribute to upholding people's rights to dignity and provide a truly memorable day for people receiving care. Dignity Action Day aims to ensure people in care are treated as individuals, are given choice, control and a sense of purpose in their daily lives and provide stimulating activities.
To celebrate, the team at Home Instead invited all clients and CAREGivers to join them for afternoon tea at the recently opened new offices. As well as tea and homemade cakes there was an opportunity for everyone to get a manicure and a head massage from a CAREGiver who also happens to be a qualified massage therapist.
The afternoon proved to be a great success and provided welcome respite for clients and CAREGivers alike. The event reminded everyone involved of the importance of dignity in care. One client, Mrs E, commented "the massage was a real treat and the nails, I have never had the luxury before, thank you".
