Local DIY Expert ‘does it himself’ and creates 50 new jobs
A company specialising in providing care for older people in their own homes has opened on Cookham Road in Maidenhead and is set to create 50 new jobs in the area. The business is owned by Paul Westgarth who, having working in the DIY industry for nearly 20 years, decided to quite literally ‘do it himself’ with this new venture.
Paul takes up the story: “I have been on the board of directors for 2 of the large national DIY companies for many years but I was keen to break away from the corporate world and start my own local company and give something back. At the same time, I was finding it exceptionally difficult to find high-quality care for my Mother who is based in the North East and needed a little help around the home to maintain her independence. That’s where Home Instead came to my rescue! My mother now has a dedicated caregiver who helps her with her everyday tasks and gives her the time and respect she deserves”
Paul continues, “Given we have similar issues locally, it was a short step to deciding to "Do It Myself" and set up a Home Instead business to serve Maidenhead Henley and Wallingford areas. I am thrilled to be able to bring this high-quality service to the area and hope it will give local residents peace of mind that there is now a practical and personal stay-at-home option for themselves and their loved ones. “
Paul is now on the look out for like-minded people to join his team. He concludes, “We need people who want a rewarding and flexible career delivering care to people in their own homes. We offer full training so experience is not necessary but candidates must be caring, compassionate and keen to learn!”
As a family man with two sons, Paul spends his spare time providing his boys with a taxi service to their various sporting events, doing a little DIY at home as well being the occasional face of DiY for one of TV’s Home Shopping Channels.
